Johnnie Vaughn
Acrylic, Multi-Media

Johnnie R. Vaughn is a conceptual abstract artist working primarily in acrylic and mixed media. His work draws from a range of visual traditions rather than adhering to a single style, allowing the idea behind each piece to determine its visual language.
He builds surfaces through layers, transfers, geometry, texture, erasure, and interruption. A piece may begin with a plan, but the plan is negotiable. Marks disappear. Patterns break. Mistakes become invitations. The result may preserve the original idea, challenge it, or become something else entirely.
Abnormal Noise Artworks reflects a willingness to pay attention to the things we’re usually taught to correct, suppress, or ignore. Noise isn’t necessarily disorder. Sometimes it’s information that hasn’t found its place yet.
Vaughn’s work lives in that uncertainty, somewhere between imposing order and getting out of the way.
